Although I don't have a dog yet (my landlady decided against letting me get the Italian Greyhound from the SPCA last weekend), when I do get one, you can bet that my sweet dog will be wearing sweaters, jackets, and collars and sleeping on organic cotton bedding from Olive: Green Goods for the Modern Dog! With categories like play, walk, wear, sleep and more - there are sustainably-produced green goods for all your dog's needs.
Here are just a few of my favorite things from Olive Green Dogs:

Feel like making some changes around the house? Why not consider the environment (as well as your health) when doing so?
Marissa Ponikowski at HGTV.ca’s Green site tells us how to go about this with some important considerations:
Sustainable Materials
Sustainable building and furnishing materials are made from renewable or recycled materials and their harvest and manufacture has less impact on the earth than their non-renewable counterparts.

Here are 10 ways that you can reduce your energy bill, that are easy and quick! I know a lot of you are probably doing a lot of these already, but a little reminder about some things you may not remember to do or might not be totally aware of can't hurt!

Happy (Green) New Year!
This year, let us all resolve to do just a little bit more to help the environment. Every little bit counts, so do try and add a touch more green into your routine.

Ever wonder how much electricity your household appliances use when they're supposedly off—in "standby" or "ready" mode? Think of the clock on your microwave, your DVD player that's on but not playing a movie, or the little sensor on the bottom of your TV that waits for a signal from your remote control.
It turns out that these "vampire" loads are gradually sucking away power—a lot of power.

A Flash In The Can
How to rid yourself of stuff that can't go in the recycling bin
by Jennifer Boulden and Heather Stephenson

Anyone who’s ever moved from a larger place into a smaller one knows how difficult it can be to jettison unwanted stuff in an environmentally friendly way—especially when it’s bulky, of unknown origin, or the type of thing that requires wearing a Hazmat suit to recycle. Seeking answers, ReadyMade enlisted the help of Ideal Bite, a daily email newsletter devoted to “light-green living,” to create a crib sheet for those with the urge to purge. Downsizers, don’t leave home without it.

I am in need of an eco friendly dishwashing detergent and laundry detergent. I don’t really want to order some online, but I haven’t been finding any in the stores I visit. Can anyone recommend something that isn’t too expensive and that I can find at a local store - I live in the Central Valley in California, we have all the “normal” stores like Walmart, Target, Trader Joe’s, Safeway, Raley’s, etc.
