Hi everyone! I just wanted to send out a message to the group about updates for the next 2 months. As some of you may know, I am leaving New Zealand, where I have been on exchange this year, in a week.

I couldn't find the songs or videos for these online anywhere, but thought i'd add the lyrics below anyway. If anyone know where I can find the songs, please let me know.
I love you, Earth -
I love you, earth, you are beautiful,
I love the way you are.

Another Canadian song today, mostly because I am so terribly homesick. Today I have the Great Lake Swimmers, an Ontario (Toronto) based group who sings delightful rocky/folky songs. This song was recently featured on the http://www.obviously.ca website, and here's a bit of the interview:

Whenever I think of the environment and social issues, certain songs pop into my head. I'm going to be posting the lyrics for some of these songs as well as a link or 2 to direct you to where you can listen to them. I'd love some feedback -do you like the song, do you think that its effective in conveying it's message...also, what are some other good songs that'll out me into a eco-friendly mood?

"Before you've finished your breakfast this morning, you'll have relied on half the world"
- Martin Luther King
An interesting thought. And a depressing one, when you realise that those people you've relied on for your coffee and muesli are almost certainly being exploited and oppressed by the unfair power balance in world trade.

What would be a MAJOR motivator for you to purchase sustainable-fabric clothing?
Here are some examples of some of the great "non-hippy" looks out there that are relatively easy to find:
Price - assuming I found something stylish that I liked, I'd like to pay around the same price as other similar products
Style - regardless of price, if I found something stylish enough I'd be willing to switch fabric loyalties
Availability - if these were available at the same stores I normally shop at
Benefits - If I knew why I should purchase sustainable-fabric clothing, I might purchase some
Other (please explain below)

Teamsugar user charlesmaris recently requested links to comprehensive information sources for "making a home more eco-friendly". This is a pretty huge area where everyday people can make a difference, so I thought I'd try and post some of the easiest and least expensive ways one could "green their home". This is a great starting point for anyone who wants to take those first steps and be able to see the results of their eco-friendly efforts immediately in their home life.

This is really exciting news for me since I find it hard to get anything done in Winter when the light is much more blue than the beautiful Summer sun. In Vancouver it is often overcast and much too grey outside for it to be very bright indoors. I haven't seen a full spectrum bulb in fluorescent before!
