The Everything at Once blog recently posted about making Christmas presents for next to nothing. For their sister, they are making a purse out of an old rice sack.

I have some great old rice sacks at home that I can't stand getting ride of. Making them into purses would be so cool. I have so much scrap fabric lying around so I could make this inside really interesting.

If you aren't that into the look of burlap, rice sacks often come in a cotton screen-printed fabric as well. If you're going to buy rice anyway, why not get some that comes in a reusable container which you can use to make a great purse?

Ooh I really like the look of those, but they would only go with certain outfits - definitely casual. But it's really thrift-store-esque chic!
